Mall Design Celebrating Unity in Diversity

The design of this mall draws inspiration from Baguio City, a cultural crossroads where Filipinos, including the indigenous Cordilleran peoples, coexist with a growing number of foreign residents, especially international students from Korea, Middle East and other countries. This rich multicultural tapestry is reflected in the architecture, combining elements of Cordilleran Filipino, Islamic, Korean, Chinese, and American design to create a welcoming, inclusive space.

Cordilleran Filipino Influence: Rooted in Nature. Inspired by the indigenous architecture of the Cordillera, the mall’s structural design integrates natural elements like wood, stone, and bamboo. Open, airy spaces and landscaped courtyards reflect the mountainous terrain of Baguio, blending the built environment with nature, inviting visitors to feel at home in a space rooted in local heritage.

Islamic Architecture: Unity and Spiritual Warmth. Drawing from the symmetrical geometry and arches common in Islamic architecture, the mall incorporates intricate, circular designs and grand domes in its central atrium. The use of earth tones and warm colors signifies unity, peace, and a deep spiritual connection, evoking a sense of belonging for Muslim residents and visitors. These elements also create a visually calming atmosphere, perfect for reflection and social interaction.

Korean and Chinese Aesthetics: Harmony and Balance. The design weaves in Korean and Chinese influences through symbolic use of nature, water features, and patterns that represent balance and harmony. Elegant wooden screens, which are characteristic of Korean hanok houses, divide communal spaces while maintaining a sense of openness. Chinese red accents emphasize the concept of prosperity and good fortune, enhancing the shopping experience with cultural symbolism.

American Architectural Features: Accessibility and Modern Comfort. As a nod to American architectural styles, the mall incorporates modern conveniences and clean, functional lines, emphasizing accessibility and ease of movement. Spacious corridors, large glass facades, and comfortable seating areas make the mall inviting for families, students, and professionals. The integration of contemporary technology and environmental sustainability features also reflects the forward-thinking spirit of American design, catering to the diverse needs of a global audience.

A Social Hub Reflecting Baguio’s Diversity. Baguio City is known for its cosmopolitan culture, where locals and foreigners, particularly international students, come together. This mall acts as a central gathering point for the city’s diverse population, providing not just a shopping destination but a cultural experience. Each architectural element celebrates Baguio’s unique blend of cultures, fostering a sense of unity, mutual respect, and love among all who enter. Whether relaxing in a Cordilleran-inspired courtyard or exploring shops framed by Chinese and Korean details, visitors are embraced by an atmosphere of shared humanity.
